Welcome to Bloomsburg Christian School

For the past 37 years it has been the privilege of Calvary Baptist Church to provide the education at Bloomsburg Christian School as a service to parents who share our vision for Christian Education.

Our goal has been not only to train students with academic knowledge, but also to form character around the glory of Jesus Christ.

We encourage you to consider our mission, values and policies to determine if we share common goals for the education of children.

Despite scoring going back and forth between the teams, Bloomsburg Christian School marked Senior Night with four hard fought wins. Lebanon Christian Academy kept the games close and the fans on the edge of their seats. Between the varsity games, BCS athletic director, Jerry Glaser, honored seniors Erin Mattive, Rebecca Williams and Benjamin Dixson. Mr. Glaser noted that all three excel, not only on the court, but also in their Christian testimony. He also thanked the parents for their support of Christian education and the basketball teams. Players were presented basketballs signed by their teammates, and the mothers were given flowers. The teams will play in the Annual NPCA Invitational Tournament at Canaan Christian on March 4-6.

English and History classes merged in a recent assignment given to Miss Schweitzer’s fourth grade students. Having learned how to write a business letter, students used that skill to write letters to state representatives requesting information about their states. The responses were both exciting and gratifying. Students now have abundant information to write a report about the state of their choice, again using skills learned in English class. They will give a verbal presentation to the class, and the reports will be on display for others to see as well.

Students in Miss Schweitzer’s class were challenged to read books totaling 800 pages in January. All of her students exceeded the challenge with the class totaling over 8000 pages read. Book reports were written on a snowman form with the student’s name and the title of the book on the hat. The body of the snowman was used for the report with the author, number of pages and favorite character written on the mitten. So many books were read the snowmen filled a bulletin board and the wall around it. The students were rewarded with a bowling party.

Students in Mr. Lee’s class were recently given a map making assignment. They were to select any country other than the United States. Maps were to be drawn on a piece of standard size poster board with the name of the country prominently listed on the poster. Major rivers, mountains, deserts and other geographical features were to be labeled and the country’s products and natural resources listed. Students used a variety of materials on their maps. Paint, clay, sand, foil and various kinds of paper were used. Each map included a key to explain the symbols used. The maps were displayed on a bulletin board in the classroom.
