“In Our Schools”
Family and friends were once again treated to an outstanding presentation by the BCS drama troupe. Tales from the Arabian Nights, adapted by Anita Kline, may be one of the best productions yet. It is truly amazing what can be done with a minimum of props, costumes and sound effects. A delightful addition this year was the use of puppets to help tell the story. Erin Mattive took on the roles of shopper, Cassandra and puppet crew. Rebecca Williams was a silk trader, Alia Baba and also part of the puppet crew. Both are seniors and will be missed next year. The thespians will join the music department for a musical program, Heroes of the Faith, at the spring concert on May 6.

“In Our Schools” for 5-27-10
On Monday, May 1, the third and fourth grade class took a field trip to nearby Kocher Park. An ornithologist from the Columbia County Conservation District presented a program about birds, and took the students on a bird watching walk. She helped the class observe and identify the following birds: tree swallow, America robin, killdeer, barn swallow, common grackle, red-winged blackbird, Canada goose, Baltimore oriole, blue jay, yellow warbler, eastern bluebird, European starling, American goldfinch and mallards. Students also observed various bird behaviors. The class enjoyed seeing some of the birds they’ve been studying in nature as well as observing additional birds.
