Statement of Faith

Bloomsburg Christian School, as a ministry of Calvary Baptist Church, is committed to the fundamental doctrines of the faith which are summarized below. A complete statement can be obtained from the school or church offices.

We believe:

  1. The Bible is the inspired Word of God - absolute, complete, and without error. II Tim. 3:16,17; II Peter 1:19-21; Rev. 22:18-19
  2. There is one triune and living God, active in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Exodus 20:2,3; Matt. 28:19,20; I Cor. 8:6; II Cor. 13:14; I John 5:7
  3. Jesus Christ is deity - virgin born, risen from the dead and living today. John 1:1-3,14; Acts 1:11; I Cor. 15:1-4; Phil. 2:5-8
  4. Jesus will return personally prior to establishing an earthly kingdom through which He and His followers will reign for 1,000 years. Rev. 13:1-18; John 5:24; Rom. 8:1; II Cor. 5:1-19; I Thess. 4:13-18; I John 4:17; Rev. 20:11-15
  5. Man is alienated from God and is totally incapable of saving himself. Gen. 1:26,27; 2:7; 3:1-19; Rom. 1:18-32; 5:12; Eph. 2:1-3
  6. Salvation is only by the grace of God through faith in the finished work of Christ and is not earned through any good works of the believer. Acts 16:31; Rom. 10:9-13; Eph. 2:8,9; Titus 3:5-7
  7. The Holy Spirit indwells every believer and cannot be removed. He guarantees the salvation of all those who believe in Christ. John 3:5; 16:8-11; Romans 8:14; I Cor. 12:11-14; I Cor. 14; Eph. 1:13,14
  8. There will be a bodily resurrection of both the just and the unjust resulting in the everlasting life and joy of believers and the conscious eternal punishment of those who do not believe. John 5:24; Rom. 8:1; II Cor. 5:1-19; I Thess. 4:13-18; I John 4:17; Rev. 20:11-15
  9. The church is the company of all believers, and each believer must become part of a local church and strive to fulfill the Great Commission. Matt. 18:15-17; I Cor. 1:2; 6:4; 7:17; 11:16; I Tim. 3:1-15
  10. Baptism is by immersion, is for believers, and is a symbol of joining Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection. Acts 8:36-39; Rom. 6;3-5; Col. 2:12
  11. The Lord's supper is a memorial of the offering for our sins and an anticipation of eternal fellowship with Christ and His people. I Cor. 11:23-32
  12. Every child of God must live a life of obedience to God and separation from evil. Rom. 6:16-23

"Ignorance is worst when it amounts to ignorance of God, and knowledge is best when it exercises itself upon the Name of God. This most excellent knowledge leads to the most excellent grace of faith. O, to learn more of the attributes and character of God. Unbelief, that hooting night bird, cannot live in the light of divine knowledge, it flies before the sun of God's great and gracious name."

C. H. Spurgeon
